| Rumba on the Lumber |
| I went to my hometown of Lumberton to do this flat and fast 5K. It's a good course, mostly flat with lots of turns. Fortunately, it does highlight the beauty of the old homes in the downtown section. As usual, 5Ks are painful for me and this was no exception. The last 8/10ths of the race are down Elm St and seems to go on forever. You can see the finish but it's so far away. My throat was screaming for air and I had to talk myself out of quitting. I was pleased at the end to finish under 20 and even happier when I got first masters. Didn't know there was money involved - an even better bonus :)! |
