| Holy Crap! That was hard |
| This was my first attempt at a 50 mile race. So of course I opted for one that has over 22,000 feet of elevation change, about a dozen stream crossings and was run almost entirely on single track, with lots and lots of rocks. We started at 6:30 am in 27 degree darkness. The high was in the low 50's, which was perfect weather for a run. I almost missed the time cut off at the 27 mile mark, but squeaked by and built up some time for the remaining 23 miles. I managed to finish in 12:31 in 46th place. 126 people signed up for the race, 88 started and only 52 finished. I vowed to never run again at least 5 times during the run. However, when I crossed the finish line I found myself thinking, "That wasn't too bad. I bet I could go faster next year or even finish a 100 mile race." Hmmm..... |
