| Fun Run for Charities |
| Okay, I had to redeem myself after last weekend's disastrous race. I drove out to Rocky Mount and did their 10K in yet another hot and sunny morning. Perfect day for the beach but not necessarily for racing. I tried to race smarter today by starting out a little slower. My times slowed by mile 2 but I just focused on hanging on and not worrying about the time so much. I passed the second guy at mile 3ish and wanted to keep the lead going. Lots of water poured on myself inside of drinking. The course looped around a park with a shaded greenway then through the downtown sections of Rocky Mount. They also started the 5K a few minutes earlier so it kinda helped passing people at the start even if they were walking. After passing the 2nd guy, I was alone for the rest of the race. I focused on keeping the pace and not stopping like I have done in my last 3 races. This was more of a mental race for me and I'm glad that I did better. My time wasn't so great but I ended up 2nd overall and 1st female. |
