Wow ... the weather for this race was about as nice as it gets in Raleigh in July! 

 

I've been working through some tendonitis in my foot and used this race as to see how it felt as a prelude for Grandfather Mountain next weekend. 

 

As Tom noted in his report, the field this year seemed smaller but was very fast.  Congratulations to race winners Devin Swann and Kimberlie Fowler as well as 16 year old Thomas Graham who placed second!  Also great job to Tim Surface, Derek Fenton, David Meeker, Tom Karnatz and the other RRO folks who had great races!

 

I felt reasonable throughout the race but was about 20 second slower than last year despite the cooler weather.  This was not a surprise given that my training over the last 5 weeks has been pretty erratic.  However, I was very pleased that my foot felt sufficiently strong that I think Grandfather Mountain is a go next week.
